Every so often, I come across a photograph that makes me stop. And yes, I still stop for a cute animal too. I want to know who made it, what they saw, and what happened beyond the frame.

I’m Laura, and photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a photographer, I’ve lived through profound changes in the ways we make, share, and understand images. Now, as AI makes it easier to create images without a camera, a place, or a moment behind them, I want to pay closer attention to the people making photographs and the stories their work can tell.

That’s why I started Still Here. Through conversations with photographers, I explore their work, their lives, and what keeps them making pictures. I’ll also share images that catch my eye and write about what I see in them.

Some photographs deserve more than a passing glance. So do the people who made them.
