Why I Created ‘Still Here’
We’ve never been surrounded by more images. They’re easy to make, easy to share, and easy to forget. But I still think it matters that we keep taking them.
Some of my earliest memories of photography are of family friends sharing pictures from their travels. I think that’s where my love for it began. I wanted to go to those places, see them for myself, and bring home my own stories. To this day, photographs still make me curious about the world and give me a reason to go out into it.
I created Still Here because, well, I want photography to still be here.
A computer can make an image in an instant. But I still want to see what people see. What catches their attention, where they go, who they meet. I want us to keep being there, living those moments and bringing back something to share.
So I’m having conversations with photographers about their work, their lives, and why they still make photographs. I’m curious about the stories behind their images, and sometimes I’ll share where those images take me, too.
I hope you find someone whose work stays with you. Or a photograph that makes you want to go somewhere, remember something, or take one yourself.
The first conversation is coming soon.
I’m glad you’re still here.
